About the Mentored Internship

The Sacred Centers Academy Mentored Internship is a one-year leadership development opportunity designed for individuals who wish to deepen their involvement in the Sacred Centers Academy community while contributing meaningful service.

Interns are paired with a Core Faculty member, who serves as their mentor throughout the program. Through this relationship, interns receive guidance, encouragement, and practical insight while gaining hands-on experience supporting Sacred Centers Academy initiatives.

Participants commit 1–2 hours of service per week, selecting from a variety of contribution opportunities that support the growth and functioning of the SCA community.

The program offers a balanced structure of mentorship, service, and leadership development, providing interns with opportunities to grow their skills, deepen their understanding of Sacred Centers Academy programs, and contribute to the community in meaningful ways.

Program Structure

The Sacred Centers Academy Mentored Internship is a one-year program designed to support growth through mentorship and meaningful service within the Sacred Centers Academy community.

Interns contribute approximately 1–2 hours per week, selecting from a variety of service opportunities that support Sacred Centers Academy programs and initiatives. These opportunities allow interns to gain experience, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the community's growth.

Throughout the year, interns receive guidance and support from a member of the Sacred Centers Academy Core Faculty, who serves as their mentor.

Interns will:

  • Commit 1–2 hours of service per week

  • Participate in the program for one year

  • Meet with their mentor once per month

  • Select service opportunities from a menu of contribution options

Selection & Onboarding

Applicants will participate in an interview before acceptance into the program. This conversation helps ensure the internship is a good fit and allows Sacred Centers Academy to thoughtfully match interns with a Core Faculty mentor.

Once accepted into the program, interns will be paired with a Core Faculty mentor and will meet for an initial orientation conversation prior to beginning their service.

This meeting allows the mentor and intern to connect and discuss how the mentor can best support the intern’s development throughout the year. Mentors may explore questions such as:

  • What areas of Sacred Centers Academy are you most interested in learning more about?

  • What skills or experiences would you like to develop this year?

  • What type of guidance or support would be most helpful to you?

This initial conversation helps establish a supportive mentoring relationship and creates clarity around the intern’s goals for the year.

Mentorship & Leadership Development

A central component of the Sacred Centers Academy Mentored Internship is the opportunity to learn directly from members of the Core Faculty.

Through monthly mentor meetings and ongoing guidance throughout the year, interns receive support as they explore their interests, develop new skills, and deepen their connection to the Sacred Centers Academy community.

Mentors provide encouragement, perspective, and practical insight drawn from their own experience within the Academy. This relationship allows interns to ask questions, reflect on their growth, and gain a deeper understanding of how Sacred Centers Academy programs are developed, supported, and shared with the community.

The internship is designed to support interns as they grow in confidence, leadership, and service, while contributing to the ongoing work of Sacred Centers Academy.
