Introducing Graduate: Anita L. Schill

Hey, there! My name is Anita Schill. I’m a Sacred Centers Healer, a yoga teacher with over 1500 hours of teacher training, a certified yoga therapist, and a certified Eden Energy Medicine Advanced Practitioner. I’m a lifelong learner.

I currently live in Winchester, Virginia – about 1.5 hours west of Washington, DC – near the border with West Virginia. Winchester is a small city in the Northern Shenandoah Valley with a thriving group of holistic healing practitioners, including yoga teachers and healers.

I retired from my long-time day job as a policy scientist with the federal government in 2017. Now I devote myself full-time to my energy medicine practice and teaching yoga. Anodea has been an integral part of my journey.

I first met Anodea in 2014. By that time my copies of Wheels of Life and Eastern Body Western Mind were worn with excessive highlighting, tabs, and other marks. So, I was in awe. I was getting to study with her in person.

The occasion was the “Chakra Yoga Teacher Training” course that she co-taught with Todd Norian at Kripalu. It was there that I learned about Sacred Centers Certification. When I found out that completion of the program came with a beautiful piece of jewelry designed by Anodea, I was hooked.

Jewelry aside, I had been fascinated by the chakras ever since learning about them in my 200-hour yoga teacher training. I saw them as both mysterious and powerful. Studying with Anodea was my chance to take a deep dive into the subtle body energy system of the chakras. I started the program for healers. During the course of my studies, I began to rediscover myself and my path as a healer became clear.

One of the program requirements was to take “Energetic Awareness” or an equivalent course that focused on systems of the energetic body beyond the chakras. To fulfill this requirement, I signed up for a weekend course that was offered locally by an Eden Energy Medicine Certification Program faculty member. This was my introduction to Eden Energy Medicine, and it changed the course of my practice. I finished the Sacred Centers program for healers and continued to complete four years of study in the Eden Energy Medicine Certification Program to become an Advanced Practitioner.

Now my work as an energy medicine practitioner combines what I learned through the Sacred Centers program and the Eden Method. When I find an out-of-balance chakra through energy testing, my process for working with a client is heavily informed by my studies with Anodea. I find energetic work with the chakras quickly gets to a client’s unspoken issues. They are a clear roadmap for balancing energies, healing, and enhancing well-being.

Although I haven’t yet completed the requirements for the Sacred Centers Teacher program, I do teach a series of yoga classes based on the chakras. My years of study with Anodea continue to inspire me to offer these classes for yoga students. They are some of my favorite yoga classes to teach.

As for me, I’m in the midst of my wisdom years and my personal relationship with my sacred centers has definitely morphed. My work as a policy scientist in Washington, DC, kept me firmly in my third chakra. My career was a daily, hardcore competition, and this colored all aspects of my life. There was a toughness about me.

Now I’ve softened. I feel more balanced. As a healer, living from my center means living from my heart. My daily practice includes reminders to release control and let the flow of love guide me. Living in this space creates the energetic field for magic to happen. This is my work in progress. Life has not become easy but there are more magic moments.
