Introducing Graduate: Masuda Mohamadi

I am Masuda Mohamadi from Alexandria, Virginia, and I am the owner of Radiance Yoga Studio. Our mission is to create a safe, healing space where people can experience the benefits of yoga and meditation while building meaningful community.
At the heart of my work is a desire to help people connect more deeply with their bodies, emotions, and inner wisdom.
I teach weekly Kundalini and Chakra Yoga classes, lead yoga teacher training programs, and guide international yoga retreats. I am also the author of Unlock the Power of Your Chakras, a book about kundalini yoga and the chakras. This was my graduation project for Sacred Centers Certification which was published in 2022.
I initially came to Sacred Centers Academy after taking a weekend introductory course with Anodea Judith at Kripalu. I loved the experience and immediately felt drawn to continue studying with her. Her depth of knowledge, experience, and ability to connect the chakra system with emotional and psychological healing really impressed me.
I also felt a strong resonance with her approach to teaching. There was both depth and practicality in the way she presented the material, and I knew there was much more I could learn from her. I felt curious about going deeper into the chakra system and exploring how these teachings could support my own growth and understanding, which ultimately led me to enroll in the Academy.

One of the biggest shifts for me has been my relationship with my body and my emotions. When I entered the program, I was disconnected from the needs of my body and often tended to numb or disconnect from my emotions. I didn’t have the tools to stay grounded and rooted during difficult or emotionally challenging times, so it was easier for me to space out or disconnect. I was also uncomfortable feeling my emotions and struggled with taking on or becoming overwhelmed by other people’s emotions.
The modules in the Sacred Center Academy gave me a framework for understanding what I was experiencing, where some of that disconnection came from, and, most importantly, practical tools for becoming more embodied and connected. The deeper understanding of emotions as energy moving through the body was particularly profound for me. It helped me release many of the judgments I had around certain emotions and allowed me to experience them without immediately needing to resist, suppress, or fix them.
The coursework fundamentally changed my relationship with fear, guilt, and anger. I developed a greater capacity to feel and move through these emotions rather than becoming overwhelmed or disconnecting from them. As my capacity to be present with my own emotions grew, I also became better able to hold space for others. I am more accepting of other people’s emotional experiences and less likely to feel that I need to absorb, manage, or protect myself from what they are feeling.
When I began to truly internalize the idea that I was co-creating my life with the universe, something shifted in me. I no longer felt that I was navigating life alone or that everything depended solely on my ability to figure things out and make things happen. I began to feel supported, guided, and connected to something greater than myself, which allowed me to let go and surrender more. I became less stressed about making decisions and moving forward.
The teachings have become woven into both my personal life and the way I teach and work with others. I use the chakra system as a practical framework for understanding myself, my emotions, and what I may need in a given moment. The bio-energetic practices, meditations, visualizations and other tools I’ve learned have also become part of my regular teaching, and I love sharing them with my students.
I find myself returning again and again to the deeper principles of the work—grounding when I feel overwhelmed, connecting with my inner strength, staying open-hearted, listening to my intuition, and trusting the process. The teachings have given me a language and a set of tools that I can draw on in everyday life, both for myself and in supporting others.

The bio-energetic exercises Anodea taught for the Root, Sacral, and Navel Chakras continue to be a regular part of my practice. I love how simple yet powerful they are—using movement, breath, sound, and awareness to help shift and move energy through the body. I practice them every week and frequently share them with my students. I often feel an immediate shift when I do them, and my students love experiencing these practices in my yoga classes and trainings.
I’m currently a caregiver for my mom and sister and spend three days a week at their home caring for them. My mom had a stroke three years ago that affected her speech and mobility, and she had also been the primary caregiver for my sister, who was born with disabilities.
When I first stepped into the caregiving role, I struggled with feeling capable of meeting their needs. I was impatient with myself and carried a lot of grief about my mom’s condition. Over time, something shifted. I began reassuring myself that I could handle what was in front of me and consciously working with my Navel Chakra to awaken my inner strength and resilience.
I also began to recognize that I was choosing to be in this role because I love my family and want to be there for them. When I notice myself moving into fear and survival mode in my Root Chakra, I use the tools I’ve learned to move that energy toward my Navel and Heart. This helps me reconnect with my strength, compassion, humor, and love.
The work has helped me move from simply managing the demands of caregiving to being more fully present with my family. I’m able to laugh with them, love them, and experience our time together with more openness and less fear. It has taught me that how I show up for others begins with how I learn to hold and support myself.
Right now, I’m practicing… trusting the unfolding. I’m reminding myself that I don’t have to have everything figured out or know exactly what comes next. I can take the next step, listen to my intuition, stay open, and trust that the path will reveal itself along the way.
